"The most interesting plants grow in the shade" - Wednesday Adams

hear the jingle?
a list of films that shaped my imagination from a little Gracie to a sassy teenager.

there will be lists that shaped me through the many stages of life.

i couldn't do just one. here's the first five to start you off on a fun theatrical journey. a sneak peek into my dark, twisted and romantic mind.

10
The Craft. Released in 1996, a precious era of 90's cult films and a classic for the angsty teens of this timelinee. Or for those becoming one (like myself). It set the stage for how cruel the world can be in highschool for being "different" and for being brave enough to take a stance and bet on yourself. Being a teen can suck, so this really highlights that! But the film made it fun by adding witchy elements.

09
Bram Stoker's Dracula. Released in 1992. yes, you're wondering how the hell a young child like me could ever comprehend or watch such a movie? well, I don't know what to tell you. it helped shape my fascination with fantasy, imagination and love. as dark and as twisted as it is a movie; hence my delight for it, even to this day. don't knock it 'till you try it!

Waiting to Exhale. Released in 1995. what a classic story of friendship, love, and never losing sight of your inner strength and courage. A beautiful reminder that you will always have your friends, the ones that will be there with you when you go through romance after romance...after romance. they never go out of style, do they? count your friendship blessings. they bring a lot more beauty to those romance stories.

Empire Records. Released in 1995. what a year of films! My musical journey probably began here. The obsession of music, inspiration to work in a record store (closest I got was HMV) and playing in a band. Sounds about right!

Love Jones. Released 1997. a beautiful story of love without a typical linear timeline. it was also a catalyst to my fascination with photography. working with film, developing in a red room. and creating a book of love at the end. need i say more.

The Land Before Time. Released in 1988. not all movies I watched were r rated. this was a lesson in life and death. finding the courage to keep going, even in the face of sadness and challenges we cannot control. they really did a number on kids with this one. thanks Bluth.
